Offroad motorcycling is environmentally irresponsible

All human activity has environmental consequence. Dirtbiking has similar or less impact than many "normal" activities, like downhill skiing, horse riding, or boating.

Other users can't coexist on the same trails with motorcycles

Motorcyclists, mountain bikers, hikers and equestrians not only can but often do exist in harmony together. There is no data to suggest increased conflict on multi-use trails, in fact, many other users enjoy the smooth trails motorcycles create.

Motorcyclists are young men seeking danger

The data shows motorcyclists as a diverse crowd. While men are indeed common, so are families and women. Most trail riders are responsible adults who have to be at work on Monday morning, and ride accordingly

Motorcycles destroy trails

Motorcycles can certainly cause erosion, just like any use. However, well designed trails last indefinitely, and motorcycle clubs contribute time and money to maintaining our trails for the future. Here in Colorado, we bring more funding and volunteer hours to the forest than any other user group.

Even if most damage comes from just a few OHV users, don't we need to close trails to avoid it?

We don't shut down hunting because of poachers, and we don't stop driving because of speeders. The solution to a few bad apples is education and enforcement, not trail closure.
